Last night it was another movie night... Had to reboot (kernel reboot) a couple of servers during the night, so I had to make time until the wee hours.

Ad Astra:
Damn it was bad, long and boring.
Not much to add, a total disappointment, I was really expecting a lot more out of this one.

Happy to say, the reboots went well.

Movies During The Weekend

A cool, relaxed weekend, in part because it rained like Hell on Saturday.
So, we did a bit of catch up, maybe forced, with a couple of TV shows.

Star Trek: Discovery:
We watched the two final episodes from Season 2, it was hard, but someone had to do it, I guess.
Not much to say about this, I guess... Except that, no, most definitively the last season doesn't do it, at all.

Project Blue Book:
I have been struggling with this one for the last 3 weeks, or so.
I'm a big fan of The X Files, at least of the mythological episodes; so I thought that this new series might be amazing, but it turned out to be quite dull and boring.
It was almost painful to go thru it.
A real shame, since it has everything to be fantastic.

Star Trek: Discovery
After a long, long time we started once again with the second season of Discovery.
It might look like, slowly, very slowly, this season might, maybe, perhaps, gets a little better...
I did enjoy the first one, but the second one got really, really boring.

Great, magnificent.
Saw it last night, alone, as the GF would thought it might be a bit too much for her.
The quality of the image is truly out of this world -pun intended-.

The best NASA pictures I've ever seeing.
Love this two books, but, obviously the big one has some of the best pictures.
The small one is, believe or not, 3 years old now, got that on 2016, on the first vacations together with the GF.

(The Ultimate) Vacation Reading 2019

It seems I'll be reading well onto the XXII century.
This monster book weights something close to a Saturn V rocket.

The newest episode this week, luckily it was better than the last one we watched last weekend.
I still haven't lost faith on this one.

Star Trek Discovery:

We watched the two available episodes, I found these two a bit boring, compared to the one we saw last week.

It is a drag when it gets too philosophical.

Yes! We finally watched a movie (or something!) Summer makes it hard, yadda, yadda... But we finally did watched one, and something that we were waiting for quite sometime to see..


Star Trek Discovery:
The first episode from the second season, here in Argentina, Netflix has the rights to stream it, no need to get CBS All Acess, on of the few nice things about the Third World :p
It was a cool one, tho it gets a bit repetitive when it comes to the blurry and infant Spock, yes, we get it, he is and will be important on this season...
Nice to see that, as all the other early reviews noted, this Discovery got back on track to what TOS had to offer.

To Boldly Finish It

Well, I finally finished... It took me quite a while, yeah... I admit it, but what a hell, this is a hell of a year.
It turned out to be a really interesting book, and entertaining too.

The quest to see every Star Trek movie went on... This time it was the turn to see some really, really crappy ones...

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier:
Boy oh boy, was this one a piece of crap or what?
I'm sorry for Bill, but he certainly blew it with this one.

Lady Bird:
Obviously, the best of the bunch.
The GF picked this one, I was a bit reluctant, but it turned out to be fantastic.
Sort of a "Pretty in Pink" for millennials.

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country:
Things picked up a little bit with this one, as a farewell to the original cast from TOS is good, but there were better movies made from Star Trek, my all time fav is still, no doubt about it, The Wrath of Khan.

Our little quest to watch every single Star Trek movie continues... Along with some other movies, in retrospect, we watched a shit load of movies, besides "Space Seed", which the GF haven't seen.. Believe or not, she is not a fan of TOS...

Star Trek III:
So, so... I have to say that I slept thru mot of it.
Don't recall when I saw it when I was a kid, but to me this one is not as good as the other Star Trek movies that have been made at that moment.

The Quiet Man:
Amazing. Simply amazing.
Guess it must have been 20 years since I saw it for the last time, a first time for the GF, she absofuckinglutely loved it too.

Black Panther:
What a fucking fuck, who the hell watches this piece of crap? I mean, does someone really get out the house, go to a cinema and pay to see this piece of shit...
What a waste of time.

Star Trek IV:
Mighty good, it aged really well. The GF loved it too.
Thanks to The Fifty-Year Mission: The First 25 Years (yes, I'm still reading it... What can I say, I have little free time...) I found out this was the most successful of all Star Trek movies to date.

Where No Monday Has Gone Before

Due to one of those strange things of international distribution, Mondays the local Netflix airs the newest episode of Star Trek: Discovery around here.
So, Monday nights are Discovery Nights.
Also last night did a bit of a marathon with Star Trek: Enterprise, finished the third season, mostly trying to catch up the GF, who become a major Trekkie fan in the last couple of months...
Incidentally, the TRON influence is really strong on that Discovery's screenshot above.

To Boldly Read & Watch

The local Netflix has started once again with the new episodes of Star Trek: Discovery, at least, there is a good thing coming out of this crappy January.
Last night's episode was mighty good.
On another Star Trek related note, started reading The Fifty-Year Mission: The First 25 Years right after finishing Hue 1968.
At first it was sort of a shock, I was even tempted to dump it (I hate leaving unfinished books) but, after a I while I got a hold of the idea of the book, it pretty much resembles the whole idea of the documentary Chaos On The Bridge, that is, an endless stream of interviews, one after another, and like I said, after a while, it does work on the book as well as on the documentary.

Also noteworthy, this was mosdef a Trekkie Weekend, we are fullfilling the gaps, so to speak, between Star Trek: Enterprise and the first movies.

An 80's galore, as seen from today.
Voices Carry's 'Til Tuesday is superb on the soundtrack, to the point that, IIRC, it is used twice during the movie.

• Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

IMHO, the best of the Star Trek movies.

A re-watch for me, a first for the GF.

V'ger Says Goodbye (For Now)

Yesterday finished The Interstellar Age, interesting and entertaining, only thing, I was sure it was gonna say that the Voyager was indeed out of the Solar System for good, but it turns out that we are not really sure it did yet, ITOH, it never ceases to amaze me that the Voyagers are still up & running after all these years.

Trekkie Sweetheart

Well, yes, Discovery is out until this mid-season nonsense pause is over...
In other news, the GF and I are watching (binge watching more like it) Star Trek: Enterprise and enjoying it like monkeys.
I'm suspecting she is a full blooded trekkie.
