Saturday Night Milangas

Super fantastic and amazing milanesas.
This time real milanesas, I mean fried milanesas, with vegetable oil, as opposed as the usual ones we regularly eat, which are oven baked.
Also, oven baked BBQ spiced potatoes, which were truly amazing, once again.
Everything, of course, lovingly made by the GF.

Random Shit I've Been Watching Lately

A couple of movies I've somehow been able to watch lately...

Hesher:
The indie one of the bunch, one of those mixed genre, modern films.
Nice one.

Tolkien:
Nice one, used to love Tolkien books when I was a young kid.

Saints and Soldiers:
Nope, not at all... Don't even understand what they see on this one.

The Great Hack:
Maybe I'm a cynic but every single one of the discoveries from this documentary seems pretty obvious.

They All Laughed:
Not even Robby Müller's cinematography on am early 80's NYC helps on this one...

Movies During The Weekend

Only one movie last weekend... It was a rather atypical one, not only because of the freak weather, but also because I had really early start and had sort of a truncated Sunday.

Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid:Man!! I loved this one, many times it was like I was watching it for the first time -for the GF it was indeed her first time watching this classic modern western-.
It aged wonderfully, IMHO.

Saturday Night Chow Mein

A new tradition seems to be raising around here...
Since the GF is having sort of a "Chinese culinary moment" who am I to stop her?
Besides, I get the benefit of these amazing exotic plates from the other side of the world.

The Current Debian Desktop

A little something, my i3 desktop screnshot from the trusty T43.
Have to fix a small glitch with the Wifi on i3status bar... Since I've changed from the PCMCIA card to the internal Wifi one, i3status went bollocks and refuses to show the strength percentage and the SSID name... Go figure...

Winter Left Us Cold (Or Not So Much...)

Unbelievable... After a cold front, with a  peak two weeks ago, we are now on 25 plus...
So much for winter, god damn it!

A Slice of Chocotorta

It is more like a Slice of Heaven...
Damn me if this thing isn't good...
The Chocotorta that the GF makes sometimes, a truly delicious mix of chocolate cookies, sour cream, dulce de leche and coffee.

More Buster on Old Hardware

After installing Buster on the old TravelMate 2440 earlier this past week, it was time to test it on the trusty Sony Vaio PCG-FRV37.
The lappie it is a beast and it makes a hell of a noise with its ever blowing fan (this is the biggest drawback of this lappie), but, damn if the keyboard isn't amazing...
Installed Buster on it so I don't have to keep updating stuff all the time, obviously i3 as the Window Manager.

A new Project X is on the rise... It was had its kick start last weekend.
This time a project made out of cloth, unlike the last one, that was made of wood.

(No) Movies During The Weekend

No time for movies during the weekend, we were really beaten so we slept quite a bit.
No rain, but cold and a few things to do here and there made impossible for us to watch a single movie this time.

Mind You, Buster!

It was time.
Today along the days chores got to replace the old, now unsupported, Linux Mint 17 XFCE installation on the old and trusty Acer TravelMate with a brand new and shiny Debian Buster install.
No problems with the install, did a really bare-bones one, nothing except SSH and Standard System Utilities.
i3 as the WM, VLC, Firefox and Transmission... the poor little lappie can't handle much else than that, and then some...

Saturday Night Milangas

An amazing milanesa napolitana! Steamy and incredibly hot (burnt like Hell, but it was delicious!).
Of course, lovingly made by hand by the one and only GF.
With the usual oven baked potatoes topping.

T43: Kernel Panic After Suspend

My little and trusty T43 has a little problem...
It fails to come back from a Suspend, it simply hangs with error message.
Only option to bring it back to life is to do a hard reboot.

Movies During The Weekend

After a weekend with no movies, we had a jumbo sized one, a holiday upon a holiday... One of those Argentine inventions... And of course, it was filled with a very mixed bag of movies.

Barfly:
I watched -re-watched actually- this one, the GF slept thru this one out.
Guess I saw it 20 years ago or so.
As usual, Robby Müller's photography is amazing.

Prediction by Numbers:
A nice Netflix documentary, a mixed bag with just about everything.

Thunderheart:
A re-watch for me, first time for the GF.
Nice one, it aged really well.

Pet Sematary:
The new one, from this same 2019; which, I guess, is better than the fist movie but completely different than the original book.

Shazam!:
It was actually funny, not quite funny, but funny.

Random Shit I've Been Watching Lately

This past week I've been watching (and mostly re-watching) old movies that I've seeing many, many years ago and that I've had on queue for quite some time.

Conquest of Space:
Not sure, but I think I've seeing this one on TV way back when.
I loved it. The best of the bunch.

Miracle of St. Anna:
Man, this one has to be the worst of the whole bunch... Except maybe for the next movie...

12 feet Deep:
This one, really, really, really but sucks.

The Last Flight of Noah's Ark:
I've seeing this one on the cinema when I was a kid, what a mixture of just about everything you can think of thrown onto a single movie.

Rules of Engagement:
Boy oh boy... Why did I re-watched this? A boring and overlong flick that tries to live off the glory of "A Few Good Men".

Killing Zoe:
Dude, this one really deserved a re-watch. Back when things were much, much uncomplicated.

Far and Away:
I really don't know why, but I re-watched it. I guess mostly because I have it. Nothing much to say, I guess...

Nose Dive!!!

Yup, it goes on and on and on...
It seems like this cold front is here to stay, but there are no forecasts for snow on Buenos Aires, at least for now, maybe, maybe, we can repeat the glorious July 9th from 2007.

(No) Movies During The Weekend

Well... This past weekend we didn't had time to watch a single movie...
Unlike the previous one, when we got to see a sh*t load of movies, this one it was a waste land when it comes to movies... We choose to sleep instead.
