A New Hopefully Hope
About to start a new job (on Monday), so, my employer sent me this laptop.
An all aluminum HP Elitebook, pretty nice, only fuckshit is that the keyboard is "in Spanish".
Fuck this shit.

(Per (Really) Ardua) Ad Astra
Last night it was another movie night... Had to reboot (kernel reboot) a couple of servers during the night, so I had to make time until the wee hours.
Ad Astra:
Damn it was bad, long and boring.
Not much to add, a total disappointment, I was really expecting a lot more out of this one.
Happy to say, the reboots went well.

Movies During The Weekend
Only one movie last weekend... It was a rather atypical one, not only because of the freak weather, but also because I had really early start and had sort of a truncated Sunday.
Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid:Man!! I loved this one, many times it was like I was watching it for the first time -for the GF it was indeed her first time watching this classic modern western-.
It aged wonderfully, IMHO.

Problems with MySQL after an unattended-upgrades
Checking the emails from that server, this is what the unattended-upgrades email reported:
Checking if update is needed.
Checking server version.
Error: Server version (5.7.25-0ubuntu0.16.04.2) does not match with the version of
the server (5.7.26) with which this program was built/distributed. You can
use --skip-version-check to skip this check.
mysql_upgrade failed with exit status 3
dpkg: error processing package mysql-server-5.7 (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script\
returned error exit status 1
Got onto the server, and this is what the MySQL error log (/var/log/mysql/error.log) reported:
2019-05-01T06:25:42.111425Z 0 [ERROR] InnoDB: Unable to lock ./ibdata1 error: 11
2019-05-01T06:25:42.111470Z 0 [Note] InnoDB: Check that you do not already have another mysqld\
process using the same InnoDB data or log files.
So, this usually means that there are more than one MySQL server running.
First thing first, stop MySQL, and then, kill any other MySQL process by hand.
Then, run apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade, this finished the MySQL update A Ok.
Then started the MySQL server, and everything was kosher.

Dropbox Vs Encrypted EXT4: Dropbox Wins...
What can I say, the practicality of what it offers is pretty much addictive, I have a ton of HDD with them, thanks to recs, so... I have to put that available space to work, right?
So, I'm in the process of switching the encrypted $HOMEs of the lappies to regular ones, since all of them are installed on encrypted LVM to begin with, I guess there is not a big security risk.
The whole thing is not as hard as I thought it would be, but, a bit of a PITA nonetheless.

Saturday Night Pasta
A stupid business meeting on Monday and on top of that a general strike the same day.
So, that sort of forced us to change our rules, that before last night were sort of set on stone.
Mighty raviolis and usual with the glorious stew made by the GF.

Sans Internet
Shit started to go downfall yesterday morning, but I went to the GF's house, but things got worse by today (back at home because of work), so I'll have to wait till Wednesday for someone from The Internet Company to come here and take a look...
I bet my ass this is the same problem I had (Damn! Six years ago!!) and they'll have to drop a replacement cable from the roof... Guess I'm gonna be w/o decent internet for a while...
Right now tethering my web access thru the glorious Moto G4 Plus.
Tried adding and removing the attenuator, but shit is still the same....
