291K and counting!

And another thousand up...
Music and more music, yes, but at a gentler,  slower, pace.

Sunday Night Pasta

The all time Sunday Night Pasta classic, the famous raviolis, literally drowned under a thick layer of GF Stew (this one a mix of over the counter and some magic potion hand made by her) and grilled cheese.

Nose Dive!! (Of Sorts)

Well, this is a really atypical summer.
We had our share of scorching days, but, luckily -at least so far- we also have a blessing nose dive (of course, we are in the middle of summer, so they are not that abrupt) that helps a lot.

The Bob We All Love and Cherish

I can't stop listening to this Bob Dylan record, Infidels... It became my new obsession.
Favorite tracks are: "License To Kill", "Sweetheart Like You", "Neighborhood Bully" & "Union Sundown" (this one has bonus points with a mention to dear old Argentina in the lyrics).

Saturday Night Asado

It was an awful hot Saturday, but somebody had to make the asado, and that somebody was me.
Potatoes, carrots, a couple of chorizos, a couple of bifes as well as some chicken breasts (for later, we are not that animals).

The Current Debian Desktop

On this scorching fucking summer day went back to my beloved Adapta, the black variant, to see if it helps a bit to reduce the fucking heat...

Summer at Full Blast

Since last Monday we have been suffering the real summer, up until that day things were somehow civilized, but then, summer got to us with all of its power.
And it looks like today and tomorrow it'll be a real scorcher.

The Year in Music

Last year's musical efforts in numbers... Guess you could say that was the Green on Red year.
Here is the 2018 review and here is the one for 2017.

(No) Movies During The Weekend

We aren't watching any movie lately.
We are spending a lot of time outdoors, mostly riding our bicycles and we are pretty much wasted once we hit the bed to see movies, we usually go straight to sleep.
Guess movies will have to wait until the weather turns bad once again.

Sunday Night Pasta

An insanely torrid and humid Sunday night deserved amazing pasta.
The classic ricotta raviolis, drowned with grilled cheese and the BBQ'd carrots that were left from the Saturday asado.
The GF took time to cook an special, lightweight variant of her world famous Stew for this special occasion.

The Nano Tangerines Got a New House

Sunday night it was time to make a little garden work.
The Not-So-Much Nano Tangerines were getting too big for the pot they called home since the very beginning.
So, it was time to do something about it...

And voilá!
The two selected tangerines on their new pot.
Will see how this goes.

And It Sort Of Happened

Yesterday it was a hellish fucking summer day.
So, it wasn't the 38 they predicted, but it was a piece of shit nevertheless.

Saturday Night Asado

Mighty fantastic asado this past Saturday, it was hot as hell, but, well, yeah, this is Buenos Aires in fucking January, what can I say?
Asado de chorizo, a chorizo bombón (not pictured, already wolfed down by the time this picture was taken) potatoes and carrots, all went thru the BBQ fire, vindicating itself to be pure for our guts.

Debian For Old Computers

No matter how many Linux or BSD distros or version I try, I always go back to Debian.
By far the snappiest of all the ones I've tested.

Saturday Night Asado

As usual, an amazing asado this Saturday, even tho it did rained (very slightly) during the making of the asado, it was chicken shit rain, and when that happened, the coals were already burning, and burning good.
Pictured below, a mighty bife de chorizo with some potatoes and carrots.

Saturday Chores Are Happy Chores

Despite the blazing and mind boggling heat of this dreadful summer Saturday, I've managed to get all the cabling done properly on the GF's, as she changed ISP, and therefore got a new WiFi router.
It was a dirty and sweaty job, but someone had to do it.

FreeBSD 12.1 on The Thinkpad T60 (2)

Finally last Friday got a little time around to play a bit more with the FreeBSD install I did on the trusty T60.
Installed (via pkg) XFCE -as usual- as my Desktop Environment- things went really smooth and fast, matter of fact, took less time to install XFCE than xorg, everything thru pkg, go figure way... Maybe the XFCE packages were stored on a nearby cache of my ISP?

Disk usage right after the base install:

Filesystem            Size    Used   Avail Capacity  Mounted on
zroot/ROOT/default    287G    433M    286G     0%    /

And after installing:

pkg install xorg xfce firefox emacs-nox

HDD usage climbed to:

Filesystem            Size    Used   Avail Capacity  Mounted on
zroot/ROOT/default    286G    2.4G    284G     1%    /
The systems feels snappy, specially compared with the same setup running OpenBSD, and, it doesn't have those pesky problems I was having (WiFi drops & XFCE crashes),
Will see if next week I have time to configure things the hell up on this FreeBSD/ XFCE setup and see if this is a daily driver.

Nothing changed that much, once again...
but what a hell. I love this Optiplex as my daily driver, comfy and somehow responsive.

Sunday Night Pasta

The classic Sunday raviolis!
This time without grilled cheese and with an over the counter stew, as the GF didn't have the time to made any.
Nevertheless. they were awesome.

Control Spotify From Chrome

I haven't noticed this before...
Allows you to control the Spotify (Play, Pause, skip or go back) also, if closed, stops the streaming immediately.
Even tho I don't usually have a ton of open tabs on my Chrome, this comes really handy instead of fishing the Spotify tab.

Movies During The Weekend

Another time, only one movie during the weekend, but, again, a very cool one.

The Lighthouse:
A really interesting movie.
From the director that made The VVitch, although The Lighthouse is not as scary as the other one.
The GF loved it, but for me it was a bit too slow and too much sometimes, Dafoe is, as always, amazing on this one.

Saturday Night Asado

This time, cheeseburgers!
We haven't eaten burgers in quite some time, man!
Mighty homemade burgers with bacon and sliced potatoes.
As usual, they were amazingly good (the picture doesn't made justice to how good they were).

Isotop on Thinkpad T60

Installed it on the little lappie last Friday, against my usual practices, on an un-encrypted HDD, just to take a look at it; another part of the ongoing OpenBSD tests I'm performing on my Thinkpads.
The Isotop install went smooth, it is basically a script that pulls and configures a bunch of stuff.
It looks rather cool out of the box, only thing I've noticed, it runs with a high load all the time... Haven't used it much, and I'm not sure I'll continue to run it, but that really caught my attention.

Sunday Night Pasta

Another fantastic set of raviolis, the last one of the beloved, frantic, boring and extremely long 2019.
As usual, with the side of carrots and grilled cheese, this time with a bit of chicken breast that got left from the GF Birthday Asado.

Movies During The Weekend

Only one movie this past weekend, lots of stuff to do, as the holidays were here, as well as the GF birthday.

Rambo: Last Blood
Nope, did not like it at all, I was expecting a lot more from it.
IMHO, the last two Rambo movies are a piece of shit.

Scrobbling to Infinity and Beyond (2)

And so it is... This is how the scrobble count went this year.
Had a snapshot taken around September of 2019.
My feeling is that the number will reduce for 2020.

New Year Lunch Asado

Taken yesterday at lunch, as way to welcome what looks like it is going to be a piece of crap year: a mighty asado!
Pictured choripán, bife de chorizo, potatoes and carrots.
It was part of a bigger asado I made for the GF and mother, let me tell you, it was simply fantastic.
We have been dodging the rain on the most incredible way so far, when it comes to asados... We were able to have one on the 25th, for the GF birthday and also one yesterday, even tho we are in the beginnings of summer, it looks like this is gonna be a rainy one.

The Birthday Cake

So, last Saturday it was the GF's birthday, asado was in order (once again, dealing with lightning, as it was forecast to rain the whole day in Bs. As., but fortunately, it didn't).
She invited a couple of friends over, and I made an asado, but the picture is of course, of the birthday cake the very own GF made, amazingly delicious, of course.
