And Another Bowden Goes

Took me a while, but I finally finished Mark Bowden's "Finder's Keeper" yesterday.
Interesting enough, just like with what happened when I read "Black Haws Down" years ago, the most interesting bit was the aftermath, the epilogue of the book.
Started right away with another book, completely different, Michio Kaku's "The Future of Humanity: Terraforming Mars, Interstellar Travel, Immortality and Our Destiny Beyond Earth", seems unbelievable interesting.

Evan Desperado

Just finished my second Evan Wright book, American Desperado.
Really good, gripping, to say the least, and of course, it deals with a subject matter (the main character an co-author was also balls deep onto the thing) from a pretty interesting documentary, Cocaine Cowboys.
After this one, jumped right onto another book, once again, a book by Mark Bowden, this time, Finder's Keepers.
Bowden and Wright seem to have pretty similar styles.

The best NASA pictures I've ever seeing.
Love this two books, but, obviously the big one has some of the best pictures.
The small one is, believe or not, 3 years old now, got that on 2016, on the first vacations together with the GF.

Master of Completion

So, last Sunday finally got to finish "Masters of The Air"... Man, I can wait to see what HBO might do with this book.
It was the most interesting WWII book I've read in quite a while, literally filled with information from page one until the end.

(The Ultimate) Vacation Reading 2019

It seems I'll be reading well onto the XXII century.
This monster book weights something close to a Saturn V rocket.

Masters of Reading

Been reading this one since last September!
Didn't have a lot of free time until a couple of weeks ago, and also, it is such a fact filled book that sometimes takes a while to wade thru.
But, damn if this isn't the best book I've read in quite some time... I'm about 32% right and I simply love it.

Another Robinson

Last Thursday finished "The Wild Shore", loved it, specially the first chapters, towards the end it gets sort of kinda boring.
So, just like another K. Stanley Robinson book is gone, guess the one that got harder to finish for me was "The Years of Rice and Salt", but all of those were at least interesting.
Started right away a new one, "Masters of The Air".

The Mighty Wild Shore

After the MTV book, started right away with another one.
Science fiction this time, another Kim Stanley Robinson, this time his first book, "The Wild Shore".
Got this one on Spanish, and also got a lot of commute time this past weekend, so I'm racing thru this one, I'm about 30% done, seems really entertaining and also, one of my favorite subjects, post apocalypse.

I Finally Got My MTV

Yeah, well, took me something like three months, but I finally finished it, lots of work and stuff to do all the time make reading something really hard these days.
Loved the book, it was interesting and entertaining.

I Want (To Read) My MTV

Started to read I Want My MTV right after finishing the one on the history of Star Trek.
Haven't dug much yet, but seems really interesting.

To Boldly Finish It

Well, I finally finished... It took me quite a while, yeah... I admit it, but what a hell, this is a hell of a year.
It turned out to be a really interesting book, and entertaining too.

Movies During The Weekend

Our little quest to watch every single Star Trek movie continues... Along with some other movies, in retrospect, we watched a shit load of movies, besides "Space Seed", which the GF haven't seen.. Believe or not, she is not a fan of TOS...

Star Trek III:
So, so... I have to say that I slept thru mot of it.
Don't recall when I saw it when I was a kid, but to me this one is not as good as the other Star Trek movies that have been made at that moment.

The Quiet Man:
Amazing. Simply amazing.
Guess it must have been 20 years since I saw it for the last time, a first time for the GF, she absofuckinglutely loved it too.

Black Panther:
What a fucking fuck, who the hell watches this piece of crap? I mean, does someone really get out the house, go to a cinema and pay to see this piece of shit...
What a waste of time.

Star Trek IV:
Mighty good, it aged really well. The GF loved it too.
Thanks to The Fifty-Year Mission: The First 25 Years (yes, I'm still reading it... What can I say, I have little free time...) I found out this was the most successful of all Star Trek movies to date.

To Boldly Read & Watch

The local Netflix has started once again with the new episodes of Star Trek: Discovery, at least, there is a good thing coming out of this crappy January.
Last night's episode was mighty good.
On another Star Trek related note, started reading The Fifty-Year Mission: The First 25 Years right after finishing Hue 1968.
At first it was sort of a shock, I was even tempted to dump it (I hate leaving unfinished books) but, after a I while I got a hold of the idea of the book, it pretty much resembles the whole idea of the documentary Chaos On The Bridge, that is, an endless stream of interviews, one after another, and like I said, after a while, it does work on the book as well as on the documentary.

The Reains of Hue

Monday night finished reading Hue 1968.
Took me a little over a month to do it, and I loved it.
An excellent way of starting the new year, by finishing a Bowden book.

Another Bowden

Keeping up with the "Viet Nam study group", last Saturday started with Mark Bowden's latests Hue 1968.
A really hefty book to say the least, I'm about 10% so far, and loving it.
this is my fifth Bowden (digital) book, read many years ago one on paper.

V'ger Says Goodbye (For Now)

Yesterday finished The Interstellar Age, interesting and entertaining, only thing, I was sure it was gonna say that the Voyager was indeed out of the Solar System for good, but it turns out that we are not really sure it did yet, ITOH, it never ceases to amaze me that the Voyagers are still up & running after all these years.

V'ger Pays Another Visit

Started a new book on Sunday, The Interstellar Age, haven't read much, but it looks really interesting so far.
Once again, Voyager... Always Voyager...

Boy, it took me a while, 3 months to be precise, but I finished it.
Definitively, I have way too much work and zero free time lately.

Movies During The Weekend

Only one movie this time, we had quite a busy weekend.

Jack Reacher
A first time for the GF a re-watch for me.
She is is right in the middle of her "Lee Child phase" so she actually made a sublime effort, muster all the strength she could gather, and watched this movie with the ineffable Cruise.
IMHO the movie is actually good, and Deschanel's cinematography is amazing as always.

Wonder Chabon

About a week ago or so finished "La Reina del Sur".
In the end took me nearly 3 months... Damn work, I hate you for keeping me from doing stuff I want to do whenever I want it to!
Anyways, sort of intermediately started the next one: Wonder Boys, but I got in Spanish, so it's more like "Chicos Prodigiosos".
So the movie many years ago, I recall a thing or two but not much.
This is my first Chabon book.
