Saturday Night Asado

This Saturday it was special, a whole chicken went up in flames on the BBQ.
First time I did something like that.
It took something like 45 minutes by side, but it was simply delicious, not because I cooked it, but also the GF agreed on this.

Movies During The Weekend

Not really a movie, but we re-visited an old friend of ours...

Star Trek: Discovery
After a long, long time we started once again with the second season of Discovery.
It might look like, slowly, very slowly, this season might, maybe, perhaps, gets a little better...
I did enjoy the first one, but the second one got really, really boring.

Saturday Night Asado

Another asado, yes, winter is dying... Anyway, asados are, maybe, the only good thing about summer in Buenos Aires.
An amazing bife de chorizo, with a real choripan as well as BBQ carrots and a potatoes (out of the picture) with eggs.
Truly fantastic stuff each and everyone.
The picture is a little messy, but I was desperate to start eating!

Sunday Night Pasta

A bit of a mix for last Sunday...
The ever traditional and always tasty ricotta ravioli, with a home made, or even better, GF made Stew (this one a quick, but delicious, one she made this same Sunday) and, on top of that, the leftover vegetables from the Chow veggies the GF thought in having along our first asado of the season.

Nano Tangerines (XXI)

It has been a while since the last report on our lovely tangerines.
Happy to say they are alive and well, and they have survived winter A Ok and they look forward to enjoy our cruelest summer.

And Another Bowden Goes

Took me a while, but I finally finished Mark Bowden's "Finder's Keeper" yesterday.
Interesting enough, just like with what happened when I read "Black Haws Down" years ago, the most interesting bit was the aftermath, the epilogue of the book.
Started right away with another book, completely different, Michio Kaku's "The Future of Humanity: Terraforming Mars, Interstellar Travel, Immortality and Our Destiny Beyond Earth", seems unbelievable interesting.

The Current Debian Desktop

Well. yes, I'm creature of habits, I keep going back and forth between Adapta and Numix, and that's just that.
I love both of them, Adapta seems a little more modern, while Numix reminds a lot to Ubuntu Browns that were all the rage around 8.04, and that I loved, of course.

Saturday Night Asado

That's right, first asado of the season!
Our last asado was on a Saturday on April 20th.
The GF and I were desperate for some home cooked asado, luckily the weather was kind these last couple of days, so asado was in order!
A mighty, amazingly good bife de chorizo, along with a choripán, some carrots and a potatoe, all of it, BBQ cooked.

Google Chrome: Make it Display The Whole URL

That is, do not hide the effing protocol on the URL!!!
That drives me completely nuts, since the whole thing simple appears when you want to copy the damn URL.
The fix is rather simple, post this on the location box:

chrome://flags/#omnibox-ui-hide-steady-state-url-scheme

And set to "Disabled" the option 'Onmibox UI Hide Steady-State URL Scheme'.

Sunday Night Pasta

The Sunday night classic, glorious ricotta raviolis, but this time with an over the counter stew.
The GF had no time to make any of his mighty Stew during the past week.
As usual, with a shit load of boiled carrots and grilled cheese.

Movies During The Weekend

Not many movies, actually more like only one, a documentary, but with many episodes.

The Defiant Ones:
Really interesting doc, I would never thought I might find the subject matter even remotely related, or something that I would watch, but, the GF did, and she emphatically recommend it to me.
And she was dam right.
I loved the doc, specially the first two episodes, as I love Tom Petty, Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Nicks too.
Also, I had a very vague notion of who Dr. Dre was, but I had no idea who Jimmy Iovine was and that he had produced some of my favorite musicians.

And this time, the T43 edition.
What my beloved Thinkpad T43 desktop looks these days, sporting i3.
The open Emacs, on the lower Xterm, is showing off the ever cool Tronesque theme, my favorite Emacs theme at the moment.

I'm an avid tea drinker, so, the old one, a rusty bucket by now, must be something like 7 years old.

Saturday Night Anniversary Special

This Saturday it was a Special Anniversary night with the GF, so we went out, and had a beast of a Milanesa Napolitana.
I went with the traditional one (meat) while the GF chose the chicken one.
Dessert was a Brownie Sundae.

GenMon: A Little Weather Script with Font Awesome Love Included

Started -once again- running XFCE on my beloved Optiplex 755 USFF, but got a couple of things I've "learned" while running i3 to the XFCE world.
Replaced -didn't even installed it- the plain vanilla Weather Plugin, with a little script that pulls the current weather from wttr.in and even a smaller one liner that actually prints it -of course, via GenMon- parses it just a little bit, and then adds a nice Font Awesome flair.
Not much, but I like it.

Movies During The Weekend

A lot of movies this past weekend.

Pokémon Detective Pikachu:
The GF wanted to see this one.
Lots and lots of neon a lá cyberpunk, but with a heavy comedic side, as per the original Pokémon thing, I can't dink, as I don't know anything about it, this was the first time I saw it.

Rocketman:
Nice one. sort of a warm counter-part to "Bohemian Rhapsody".
Both the GF and I liked this one a lot, even tho I don't particularly like Elton John songs, except maybe for Tiny Dancer on "Almost Famous".

Wolfen:
Wow and double wow! What a wonderful mix of just about anything thrown onto a single movie!
Haven't seeing this one in ages and ages, I didn't even remember a thing about all the political subplot, it was like seeing it for the first time; the GF, indeed, saw it for the first time.
Guess you can say it aged well.

This is the entry on my ~/.config/i3/config file that makes xcalc a floating window, and then places it on a specific place on the screen.

for_window [ title="SuperCalc" ] floating enable move right 930px,move down 870px

The window title ("SuperCalc" here) is provided by an entry on my ~/.Xresources file.

The Current Debian Desktop

My beloved Optiplex desktop, now with i3 and a custom theme that it is sort of based on the Emacs theme Tronesque.
Also, the weather displayed on the xterm is the new experimental version of wttr.in.
