288K and counting!

And another thousand up.
Yes, I'm progressing way slower than I used to, but, what a hell... Who's counting anyway, right?

Mind You, Buster!

It was time.
Today along the days chores got to replace the old, now unsupported, Linux Mint 17 XFCE installation on the old and trusty Acer TravelMate with a brand new and shiny Debian Buster install.
No problems with the install, did a really bare-bones one, nothing except SSH and Standard System Utilities.
i3 as the WM, VLC, Firefox and Transmission... the poor little lappie can't handle much else than that, and then some...

Finally Chrome In

Today installed Chrome on my last "Firefox only" box...
Crap and annoyances pushed me to it, about 10 days ago, the web version of Spotify stopped working cold, every time I've tried accessing with Firefox, it belched a message that this version wasn't supported, blah, blah, blah... Like if it were 2003 or something... Complaints and more complaints about required versions not installed... Get the hell out of here!
And today it was with Netflix, so, well... Hello Chrome, baby!
Let's just hope this doesn't happen...

198K and counting!

And another thousand up, despite all the internet problems past week, the Spice Must Flow! Er... You can't stop music, more like it.
That magic 200K is right around the corner.
Also, started to use Firefox -on Devuan ASCII- which, even tho 32 bits, works A Ok with both Spotify and Last.fm scrobbling.

HBO Go(es) Nowhere

Well, at least with Linux it doesn't... Both Firefox (as pictured) as well as Chrome fail miserably.
Maybe it's the Argie website kinda of problem, but the thing just sits there, with those pulsating circles, luring you to watch nothing.

Elbow Grease Chrome

Installed Chrome.
Yep, it all started more than a month ago.
Got fed up with the problems with Firefox, Chromium and Netflix, so, in the end, installed Chrome, were things have to work A Ok.
Followed the instructions (once again) given here: How to install Google Chrome in Linux Mint 18 and had to delete the file "/etc/apt/sources.list.d/chrome.list" after the installation, see the second comment.

I'm starting the program like this:

/usr/bin/google-chrome-stable --disk-cache-dir=/tmp/cache-chrome %U

Nullflix Is Shitting Me

Don't get this...
It seems like Netflix doesn't work Just Like That in Firefox On Linux...
Or rather, don't know why, but it looks like its working only on one lappie (X140e) on all the others, it goes down on flames miserably...
I thought that maybe it is 64 bits related, but none of the other 64 bits lappies I have around seem to be working...
Fucking strange, specially since I did all the testing on the T60p which is freaking 32 bits...

To DRM Or Not To DRM...

That is the question!!
So... Not only Spotify wants you to use DRM (link 1 & link 2)...
Believe or not, Netflix (and HBO Go) seems to be working A Ok on Linux (under Firefox) with nothing else but a Firefox with DRM enabled...
We are living in the future, baby! The FUTURE!

Yes, In The End It Was The DRM Route...

It must certainly was, so fuck me in the gutter...
Looks like Spotify finally caught up with that DRM thing, as well as the revamped website, with a more iOS like GUI, around here...
First it was in the US, but not here in Argentina, but now, it seems it is everywhere, dude...
And of course, like in the US, scrobbling to Last.fm doesn't work, so, yes, Sayonara Spotify!!!
As you can see, I can't live without my scrobbling, so sorry, and goodbye, I'll start downloading from Youtube the best themes and add those to my local music, it was good while it lasted, but given Last.fm scrobbles or Spotify, I take the scrobbling any given day!

No, It Wasn't The DRM Route...

In the end it turned out to be only one of those IP restricted things...
Here in Argentina, things on Spotify, the web access, are the same as usual.
All the DRM thing, as well as the new interface tha I saw during the vacations turned out to be just a geo-location thing...
And of course. on this plain old Spotify interface, Last.FM scrobbles work A Ok.

Spotify Went The DRM Route???

This happened this morning...
Had to enable the DRM support on firefox to be able to actually play and listening to a song.
One thing that I've noticed tho, is that scrobbling to Last.FM doesn't seem to be working at the moment.
If that doesn't work it might be Sayonara Time to Spotify?

Stupid crap that drives nut...

...  every time I re-install and configure a box to my likings...

  • Firefox favicons
Makes me go bananas... There used to be a Firefox extension that simply combed your Bookmarks, and dloaded every single favicon, as well as testing your Bookmarks for broken links...
But the developer got pissed off with Firefox and removed that extension.

  • Date column on Evolution
This one seems stupid enough, but nevertheless, it really fucks my workflow up, specially on tiny screens like on the X140e...
The Date column on Evolution is HUGE! It steals a huge amount of screen real estate just because, and AFAIK, there is no way of setting this on a global way, you have to change the width on every single directory you have.
