Movies During The Weekend

We watched a shit load of films during the weekend... I'm amazed...

• Good Kill

Man what a drag!
I mean, c'mon!

• Mama

Spooky, nice one.

• Poltergeist

Pretty good, although it aged a bit, let say "New Agy"... But it is an amazing snapshot of the US on the early 80's.
It was the first time the GF saw it.

• The Bourne Legacy

A request of the GF, didn't like it much... I've seen it on calbe on and off for a while, but I never got to see it all the way thru, the way it should.
Don't bother.

• About Time

Pretty, pretty, pretty good one!
A recomendation of the GF, I love her.
It even features a Nick Cave tune

• House Of Cards

The first episode of the the third season, at last! It took us a while, but we finally got started.

• The True Cost

A big Meeeh!
A guilty trip for the first world dwellers out there.

Remmina Desktop Blues

Luckily, as time goes by I get to use less and less Windows, that is, for work, for personal use I wouldn't touch a Windows box for nothing.
But, there are really strange situations in which I have to connect to an effing Windows box... And I always, not only hate it, but I also every single time I have to I forget about the name of the Remote Desktop client that I have to install, and on top of that, I forget that not only I have to install the client, but I have to also install the Remote Desktop plugin...
Therefore, to prevent all of that Googling over and over again... Here it goes:

sudo apt-get install remmina remmina-plugin-rdp

Movies During The Weekend

We had quite a run this past weekend... But we missed our weekly episode of "House Of Cards", it might have been the first one from season 3...

• The Mechanic

The one with Charles Bronson... It took the GF and me a couple of times (3) to actually finish it.
As I watch it, I realize that I've seen that movie many, many years ago on TV.

• Maps To The Stars

We continued with another Cronenberg flick.
This one was even weirder than "The Fly".

• The Exorcist

A re-watch, for the GF and me.
Amazing movie, all around, from the cinematography to the script, I love it.
First time I saw in, on VHS when I was a little kid I was scared shitless for weeks...

• Run All Night

A suggestion of the GF. Didn't like it too much.
An action flick with Liam Neeson, good if you expect that.

The (Amazing) Martian

Last night finished The Martian.
Damn that was a good book!
Took me 10 days to read the book, like the saying goes, you can't put it away.
Guess that ever since I've read Cloud Atlas, this the best SciFi book that I got my hands on.
Pretty, pretty, pretty good.

• Heat

We continued with our little Michael Mann review, I mean after last week's "Blackhat".
IMHO, this is one of Mann's best movie yet.

• The Omen

The GF did not see this one before and she actually liked it... I've saw it many, many years ago... I don't know, to me it aged well.

• House Of Cards

We finished the second season!
On to the third one, happy as hell, our first TV series as a couple!

In just 10 days.... It seems I'm scrobbling like a MF these days...

Forticlient 64 bits on Ubuntu 14.04

Or good bye ia32-libs-gtk...
In the past, on Linux Mint (64 bits) I used to (sort of) simply install the 32 bits compatibility libs and be done with...
But, on Ubuntu (64 bits) that didn't work...
Thing is I need the VPN client for connecting to different work related data centers, no matter what, I need the program, and I need it to work A Ok.
Luckily, I found this page: Forticlient – SSLVPN .deb packages
Installed forticlient-sslvpn_4.4.2313-1_amd64.deb and it works flawlessly.
Had to install lib32gcc1 prior in order to get the dpkg correctly installed.

sudo apt-get install lib32gcc1
sudo dpkg -i forticlient-sslvpn_4.4.2313-1_amd64.deb

Death Of A Thinkpad Battery

The battery of my beloved T430 died yesterday...

It was performing A Ok last week, giving between 3 to 5 hours of juice, but yesterday it wouldn’t "charge" beyond 52%, and I say "charge" because it really doesn't charge at all, if I unplug it, the lappie shuts off...

 No matter what trick or tweak I've try, the thing is just dead...
Anyways, I have this little baby since April 2013, it had to happen someday, the only surprise is just how sudden the whole thing of dying was...
This is the second laptop battery that goes South on me...

Gotta Love Technology! ;)

The best of the bunch of the weekend... I've been waiting a lot for this one, and IMHO it was really worth it.
Pretty damn good!

Mad Max 2
I wanted the GF to see this one, since we saw part 4 a couple of weeks ago... And the newer one has a lot of influence from this one.

The Fly
The one made by Cronenberg.
The GF missed, so it was time to catch up with this master piece of terror and 80's hardware.

The Dictator
Recommended by the GF, pretty, pretty funny!
Better than Borat, IMHO.

House Of Cards
About to finish second season!

The Unity Desktop

This is a first...
The current desktop setup of the little Thinkpad X140e, running Unity on top of Ubuntu 14.04...
So far, I'm happy as hell with it.
The theme is called "Yosembiance" and the icons are "Loli-Papelk".
Damn this thing looks sexy!!!

Not too many movies during this weekeend... We took it kinda relaxed and cool...

• Drag Me To Hell

The terror flick recommended by the GF, didn't like it much.

• The Social Network

The GF haven't seen this one till this Sunday.
I've re-watched it, still like it a lot, she simply love it.

The X Marks The Treasure

It certainly took a while, but last Friday I finally got me an X140e, the small little tank Thinkpad.
I was looking for one of these for a really, really long time.
