The Global Menu Is Dead
And the LIM did it.
That is, the Local Integrated Menu... And, that is of course, on Ubuntu's Unity.
Anyway, I hated Unity's implementation of the Global Menu (with the vanishing menu entries) and I now hate this LIM thing, which is basically a menu on every window -on un-maxified windows- but the menu item appear on the window title bar itself, and only when you do a mouse over on the given un-maxified window, once the mouse leaves, the item disappears, leaving you with a plain vanilla title bar once again.
Reading the users comments on every Linux/ Ubuntu site out there, it seems that the idea is pretty well received... But that is nothing unusual, ever since Unity raised its here, the popularity of Global Menu sunk.
Call me old fashion, but I miss a lot all that GNOME2, circa January 2010 had to offer...

The current Linux Mint desktop
Yes, another one!
And yes, the Cinnamon theme is still FrostyMint.

The current Linux Mint desktop
Got fed up of the plain and simple from last week.
Time for a new wallpaper, even tho this one is a classic, from Cinnamon's own wallpaper collection.
The Cinnamon theme is the same, FrostyMint.

Currently Kindling
About 25% onto this one at the moment, I guess it's my third or fourth Hasting book.
A mighty interesting one, I might add.
Incidentally, I thought that I was going to read like a monkey all over the holidays, but ended up almost not reading at all...

Kernel Crud Delete Mode ^2
Kernel crud deletion time, for both Usul and Stilgar.
I get a strange kinda pleasure deleting old kernels and re-gaining HDD space, even when, like this time, the HDD space is negligible.

Stand Down Guys
What a load of crap!
Dismal movie and a complete waste of the cast.
It sort of remind me of Tough Guys, and 80's movie somehow similar, but, that one, as I recall, was actually a bit funny.

The current Linux Mint desktop
Simple, clean, grey... Dull and maybe boring, but it is what I'm using at the moment.
Once again, not a blurry eco-friendly wallpaper, enough of those for the moment.
The Cinnamon theme is a long time classic, FrostyMint.

Please don't feed the insects
Last night watched The Hellstrom Chronicle, for the first time in, I guess, thirty years or so.
Don't even remember what they might have called it around here when I saw it, on B&W TV, BTW.
The movie looks like inspiration for many of Alexis Rockman paintings.
I love it like the first time I saw it.

The current Linux Mint desktop
Time for another wallpaper change.
Not a blurry, green all around, garden like one this time, tho.

Pro Bono
Last night got to see The Counselor.
Well, what can I say... I was expecting more, quite a lot more actually... I mean Scott and a McCarthy...
I read around that the Malkina character, the one played by Cameron Diaz, it is supposedly of argentine origins on the original play.
Seeing how ruthless and diabolical she is, I have no doubts she might a full blooded argie.
