Movies During The Weekend

It was a rather unusual weekend around here, so, only one movie... but what a movie, right!
It obviously doesn't need an introduction, it is a long time friend of Oesediez.

Sicario 2049

It turned out to be actually good, quite good really.
A depressing, oppressive  feeling runs thru the whole movie, a mix of "Sicario" with "Prisoners".
One thing is for certain, Hollywood learn how to represent correctly extreme poverty. something I've noticed for the first time while watching "Children of Men".

If only you could see what I've seen with your eyes!

Watching Blade Runner the way it is was meant?
Because of my age I'm one of those who watched the film originally on VHS, too young to be able to go to a cinema to see the real thing.,
So, the first ones were a crappy VHS, then came the 1992 director's cut, the first time I got to see it on the big screen, an amazing experience, to say the least.

Then came DVDs with all the excruciating detail, but now, man, now... a Blue Ray rip, with full High Definition resolution.

Green rooftops & Blade Runner (2)

Just found (thanks to pleia2's blog) the coolest Green Rooftop I've seen... The Living Roof of the California Academy of Science.
You could almost see the Hobbits in that picture, I'll be damned ;)

As I said before regarding green rooftops, these would make Rick Deckard red with envy, and, on top of that, this particular green rooftop its in San Francisco...

Smoke, fog, clouds... Yes, Buenos Aires

Smoke, fog, clouds and Bs As
Here we go again...
"Smoke in Bs As Round XXXX"

No, this is not a call sheet for the Blade Runner FX team, it is the weather here in Bs As.
Once again, the nice and spicy smoke is here, making everyone's live miserable. The only good thing is that, at least for the moment, the lows are like, really "low", you know, for autumn and all, is nice to have some sort of "autumn like" days once in a while.

Love the smell of napalm in the morning

More human than human
A couple of links with more info regarding the smoke that plagued Bs As during the later part of last week. At first, it was believed to be garbage burning, but the all the garbage processing companies denied the charges (of course :D ).

Right now, the belief is that the awful smoke and smell was caused by fires on the islands on Tigre.

BTW, doen't the picture (taken from a local newspaper website) look a lot like is it was stolen from Blade Runner? Those tower should be one of the many ultra luxury towers built on the most expensive parts of town, mostly for US & European expats.

Green rooftops & Blade Runner

Green rooftops on NYC
Ever since I saw on TV, by pure chance, the CNN bit on green rooftops, (linked below, the first one); I couldn't not stop to relate those images with Do androids dream of electric sheep?, the novel from which the film Blade Runner was inspired.
On the original novel the main character, Rick Deckard, used to live on a building that had a green rooftop and it even had mechanical goats (pretending to be real) wandering around the rooftop.
