The current Ubuntu desktop

Not much of a desktop screenshot per se, but, the important thing here is that there is no wobbly problems going on on the external display on the right.

Looks like it is fixed on Precise, that damn problem nearly threw me out of the Linux gang, this might be only a T60p thing, only way to know for sure will be when Sojourner (the T60) has Precise Pangolin installed, which, BTW seems like it is going to be quite soon.

Also, of course, The Parallax View... What an amazing movie, specially the cinematography and the camera work. Guess I saw it for the last time about 20 years ago or so.

On Windows 7: No wobbling

Did a quick test this weekend.

Gave the weekend off to Sojourner, and used the old, noisy & hot Thinkpad T43.
So took out the HDD from Sojourner, and loaded the original one that came with the laptop when I bought it, with Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bits) on it.

Of course with Windows 7 running and an external monitor connected there isn't any damn wobbling to be seen...

What you might call a real problem.

T60: wobbly external display

Tested the solution I found the other day with a (totally crappy) projector at work.
It works A Ok as long as the T60's LCD is off.
Fine for me, I'll be able to take it outside.

T60: More on the wobbly display

The damn problem with the external display on Sojourner (my Thinkpad T60 beauty) is simply killing me.
Earlier this week I had a bussines meeting with a little demo, and I had to take my trusty but really beated T43 to be able to connect it to a projector.

So, Saturday afternoon pulled the HDD from Sojourner and placed a 320 GB drive I was using on my late MBP 13" to make Time Machine backups.

Snapped the drive onto the T60 and installed a fresh Lucid Lynx (32 bits) on it, made the install from a USB key and the whole thing simply flew.
After the install was completed, and with all the updates on and a reboot later, plugged in an external monitor to see if the damn "waves" went away with a clean slate.

The MF were still there.

Anyway, this whole thing served a purpose, found out that the waves only happen when the T60 is either mirroring, or extending the desktop to the external monitor; if I chose to simply turn off the laptop's LCD and use only the external one, things go A Ok (at least with the Samsung monitor I have at hand).

Fair enough for me; later this week will test it with a projector from work to see how it goes.

T60: Wobbly external monitor w/ Lucid

Hit the first major glitch with the new Sojourner...
If connected to an external monitor, the image looks all wobbly and unstable... Totally unusable, specially if you need to give a presentation.
The solution I found doesn't at all on my box... Googling about this, found what it seems like a solution...

But this did not work at all on my Thinkpad T60 with the Radeon Mobility X1400 card.
It looks like I'm royally screwed.
