Ciso: IP Phone Home

Yesterday got me a "new" Cisco phone from work.
The old and pretty crappy Budge Tone 201 that I have at home was nearly completely broken and totally beat up.

So the powers that be gave me a Cisco IP Phone 7940.

Setting it up on my LAN was pretty much a piece of cake, had to disable DHCP, gave it the IP address that the Budge Tone was using, etc... Only thing I had to do was to add a TFPT server IP address pointing to nowhere inside my LAN in order to accept the fixed IP address & settings.

It works perfectly well behind the D-Link DIR-601 router, no need to set anything special in terms of port forwarding or stuff like that.
The difference in craftsmanship between the two phones is amazing.

D-Link DIR-601 & SIP problems

Last Friday got a new WiFi router, everything went really smooth when I switched routers, except for one thing, my SIP phone wasn't working.
I have a nice and really cheap Budge Tone 201, and after changing routers it stopped working, I was able to register via SIP to the Asterisk server with the Budge Tone, but I didn't hear anything once I made a call, nor the other party could hear me at all.
The Linux SIP softphone Ekiga -executed from my Ubuntu laptop- did work Ok, tho.

Upgraded the firmware from version:
Current Firmware Version : 1.00NA
Current Firmware Date : Mon, 05 Oct 2009

To version:
Current Firmware Version : 1.02NA
Current Firmware Date : Thu, 25 Nov 2010

Now the Budge Tone works A Ok and things seems to be just fine.

Ekiga accounts information

Sort of a continuation of this post.
The account info is stored on the file:
$HOME/.gconf/apps/ekiga/protocols/accounts_list

Or you can also edit those thru gconf-tool browsing to the key
/apps/ekiga/protocols/accounts_list

Adding SIP accounts on Ekiga (a solution)

I have a couple of SIP accounts from work, and on Linux usually use Ekiga as the client (a free, nice and easy going, no frills program).
Thing is I've noticed that there wasn't a simple way of adding accounts... Stupid, I know, but a bit of Google proved that I wasn't alone on the thing... At first thought that it was something related to Gnome Global Menu, but even tho after disabling it there is no option on the Accounts window, to add new accounts.
What I did was, using the Configuration Assistant create a fake (free) Ekiga and Ekiga Call Out account and then simpley edit those with the values of my work's accounts.
A couple of links on the problem:
