The Current Android Desktop

Well, I finally had to cave in...
Had to set the fonts, the whole thing actually, to "Big", even tho with the setting set to small everything looked amazing, it was way too much for my poor old and tired eyes...
So, in the end what I did was to simply get rid of everyone and all of the icons on my beloved Moto's Desktop, only kept the ones in the bottom, which are the most used ones to begin with.
Here is an old screenshot of how the Desktop looked historically, eve tho it is two years old, I didn't change a bit of it once I settle for that.

Un-Google Now on The Moto G4 Plus

So finally [!!!!] I was able to fix the Google Now crap on my Moto G4 Plus.
I was getting really, really mad at the mighty cell phone, the new panel, that appeared out of nowhere and that I was unable to remove drove me crazy, as I hate having more than one desktop on my phone.

This is what I did to delete the effing unwanted panel:

1- Go to 'Settings' on your phone > Apps.
2- Select the Google App > tap on the top right corner > Uninstall updates.

Removed updates for the Google App, and voila, the damn panel vanished, also a couple of icons from the cell's desktop, but aside from that, everything A Ok, didn't loose any data nor installed program.
After that, updated that damn Google App once again, rebooted the cell, added the missing icons on the mighty Moto G4 Plus desktop again, and things, at least so far, are kosher and running fine.

Followed (in part) the instructions from this Google Products Forum post:
How do I *TURN OFF* Google Now?

Google Now Launcher Went Nuts

The mighty Moto G4 Plus got a bit crazy today and fucked it up with a damn new panel for Google Now that I can't get rid off...
Damn you technology!

Fat Android

What gives... I don't get it...
On the left, my old cell phone and on the right, the shiny brand new.
The Android install from the Moto G4 Plus (the one on the right) uses 3 times more the space than the one on the Moto...
This is both ridiculous and strange...

New MF Phone

On Monday got a new cell phone.
My Moto G Third Gen works great so far, but I have the 8 GB version, and that is simply not enough.
This new MF of a cell phone has 64 GB of storage, besides, a finger print reader.

A Month With The Moto G (3rd Gen)

Yeap, it's been a month now..
Simply put, I freaking love the little bugger!
Battery life is great (it better be, damn it, it's only a month of day to day usage!).
Also, the phone is amazing for music hearing, and pretty, pretty decent for Kindle reading on the bus.
Only thing I don't like (at all) is the removable back plate, even tho this celular can submerged underwater for a period of time, the plastic back plate squeaks a lot, it is the only thing that makes it feel cheap and sub par.

Moto G (3rd Gen) Customization: Disable vibrate on Back, Home and Open Apps buttons

(And yet another post on dealing with the Moto G... )
I hate that nasty vibration!!!
So, to make it go away on the navigation buttons on the bottom of the screen:
Go to:

Settings > Sounds > Other Sounds

And then turn off "Vibrate on touch"

Voilá!

A Week With The Moto G (3rd Gen)

It's been a week already...
I have to say that I simply love the phone, specially since I'm coming from an ageing Blackberry... The only regret I have was not getting the 16 GB / 2 GB RAM model, but since it wasn't available, there is nothing I can do about that.
The 1 GB RAM doesn't seem to be a problem at all, at least with the stuff I usually do on the phone; but the 8GB really chokes the whole thing up.
Even tho I practically don't install shit on the phone, and I move all the apps I can to the SD Card, I still have only about 2.5 GB of free space on the phone.
Battery life seems pretty impressive too.
I can't wait to get my hands on the Otterbox case, if there is a thing I can complaint about the phone is that it feels fragile, at least to me, I'm afraid to break it, specially all that glass!

Moto G (3rd Gen) Customization: Disable Screen Wakeup

I hated right from the beginning that my beloved phone's screen jumped to life everytime I simply touched or slightly moved it...
So I wanted to disable that feature right away!
To do so, go to:

Settings > Display > Screen Notifications and set to "None"

BTW, Screen Notifications (a new window, or app?) looks like one of those bundled (shoehorned?) by Motorola onto the phone...

Also, This one seems to be working in conjunction with the Daydream option (an option under the Display section of Settings as well).

Moto G (Day 1)

Today (finally!!) got the 4G SIM card from my cellphone provider.
Yeah, it took a while, but, what I have to say about the whole process is that I was quite surprised...
I had to wait to get the SIM, but the activation itself was instant, they cut off -killed from the network- my old BB, and brought to life the 4G SIM and the line and everything else (literally) in a second on the Moto G.
And, by Jeebus the Moto G, compared to the late BB... The difference in terms of teh snappy is world shattering.

Goodbye BB, Hello Moto G

Time to upgrade and move on...

Goodbye to my beloved BB9900... Hello to the Moto G Third Generation.
Giving it its first charge, will have to deal with my cellphone company in the next few days, as I have to change my SIM to a micro & 4G enabled one.

So, here is to the late BB, thanks for all the keys!

Bigger Is Better (And Newer)

Along with the Nexus 6, the Moto X are the only cellphones I would buy as of right now.
The Moto X is smaller (more manageable) than the Nexus 6, and also a lot cheaper.
