De-Gunking Saturday

Spilled tea on my Happy Hacking this morning.
Yeah, I'm  a schmuck, what can I say?
So, a screwdriver and 8 screws later alcohol and patience did the difference.
I have the new one but I'm sort of Spannungsbogen it for the moment.
Anyways, my trusty and old Happy Hacking seems to be running A Ok after the thorough cleaning.

Vacation Hardware (II)

This looks like (among a lot of other things) will be the vacation of the keyboards...
Got my first Happy Hacking keyboard 11 years ago, I can't even believe it.

Happy Gunk Keyboard

Well, someone had to do it and that someone was me...
Last Sunday afternoon took courage and disassembly my beloved Happy Hacking keyboard in order to clean it.
This was the second occasion I have to do such thing with my beloved keyboard.
It was working a bit flaky lately, especially the space bar, it sort of got stuck sometimes, or, other times, it required a heavy punch in order to actually work.
I'll spare the gore, not even a picture will be posted (and nor was taken) because it was gross, something out of this world that would probably make the late H. R. Giger puke his guts.
One thing to mention, tho, the keyboard it was a pleasure to work with, it took 8 screws to pull it open (one of those hidden beneath a sticker) but after that everything was kosher.

Gunk

Gross.
Crap removed from my Happy Hacking keyboard.
Forget to add something to give a sense of scale on the picture, but it was a lot.
H.R. Giger would be proud of this human/ machine symbiosis...

An All Time Classic

The T420 connected thru the ADC -> DVI -> DisplayPort.
Everything Simply Just Works.

Edit: The USB WiFi dongle is long gone, a simply tweak on the /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf file fixed the intermitent WiFi issues.

Mechanical Rubber Stand Still

I like to have the keyboard as solid and as still as it can be.
Specially my beloved HH keyboard.
Using a couple of old rubber wedges taken from a mop... At least they are black and they certainly keep the keyboard on its place, right?
