Mobi Files On Marshmallow & The Kindle App

Ever since I've Marshmallowed the SD Drive of my Moto G, one thing that also changed, if not the thing, is that the location of the mobi files for the Kindle app changed as well...
Before the Marshmall update, the files used to go to:

SDCard/Kindle/

That was the same directory on the Nexus 7 too, which used to share the same Android version than the Moto G; but those days are over, I doubt the Nexus 7 will see another OS update...
The new directory, where all the mobi files should be in order that the Kindle app can access them is:

SDCard/Android/data/com.amazon.kindle/files/

Nexus 7: Kindle app annoyances

I side load all my books, as I already have those on either pdf or txt format.
Here are a couple of annoyances, other than screen brightness I've already mentioned on a previous post, that I come across:

  • Location/ directories

All the files have to go to the "kindle" directory.
There is no support for sub-directories; I'd like to keep my files nice & tidy, with an author/book tile structure.
This is not possible on the app, the files that are placed onto a subdirectory are simply ignored.

  • TXT files

Unfortunately, the Kindle app don't read those. At all. Really sorry and strange.

Sun screen for the Kindle App

A little one that does help a lot, and I really mean a lot, when you're using the Nexus 7 to read ebooks, via the Kindle app.
Since the Kindle app refuses to honor the brightness settings from the own Nexus 7, it really blinds you, and that is literally blinds, specially if you read on the dark.
And its a freebie.
