Orbis meets Intrepid
Installed Intrepid on Orbis Tertius, went with the Alternate install, again.
The NVIDIA card that has, a GeForce2 MX/MX 400, it is not officially supported by Ubuntu, so it has no drivers for it, therefore, no 3D, no Desktop Effects, no Emerald with border-less windows.
The screenshot is using Metacity's compositing manager, thru the key '/apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager'.
But this time, to "raise" the whole thing to a Gnome desktop, instead of the plain vanilla:
sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop
Issued a:
sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop --without-recommends
It took about an hour to download the 200 MB of files, that expanded to about 850 MB, the whole install was using around 1.5 GB, but then installed Evolution, Firefox and Pidgin (yes, I like to suffer running hard apps on sub prime hardware) and I was told by aptitude that another 160 MB of HDD will be used.
