To aMSN or not

Pidgin drove me nuts, it was/ is the only thing, at least, so far, that wasn't working Ok on my Intrepid install.
Random, and frequent crashes, weird, I guess, because I only use it with one protocol, MSN, and I don't have a bazillion of contacts, nevertheless, it crashed like a SOB, many times a day sometimes.

So, installed aMSN on Tango... First thing off, I hate it, it is made to look exactly like Messenger, so, everything is huge and effing annoying.
Besides, unless there is a good reason, I simply hate installing another app that has the same function as another one already installed on my boxes, I like to keep everything nice and clean, yes.

This is what it installed:

2008-12-11 16:56:54 status installed man-db 2.5.2-2
2008-12-11 16:56:55 status installed amsn-data 0.97.2~debian-0ubuntu3
2008-12-11 16:56:55 status installed tcl8.5 8.5.3-1
2008-12-11 16:56:55 status installed tk8.5 8.5.3-3
2008-12-11 16:56:55 status installed tcl-tls 1.5.0.dfsg-9
2008-12-11 16:56:55 status installed libsnack2 2.2.10-dfsg1-6
2008-12-11 16:56:55 status installed amsn 0.97.2~debian-0ubuntu3
2008-12-11 16:56:56 status installed libc6 2.8~20080505-0ubuntu7

And, as an added bonus, there was this little frightening message:

tango:~$ sudo aptitude install amsn

The following NEW packages will be installed:

0 packages upgraded, 6 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 6580kB of archives. After unpacking 16.8MB will be used.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n/?]

But, again, after installing everything, a reboot later, and everything is kosher.
I'm gonna miss Pidgin, I love its GUI.
